I am not sure that these two topics are related in any way, but I thought it was ironic. I was looking at the story in the paper on June 27th, 2009 recounting the Utility Board meeting. It was reported in the prior referencing the meeting that during an executive session June 16th, the board had decided to terminate the contract of EMC effective July 31, 2009. That action was rescinded, and the board voted to not renew the contract when it ends in December. Economic savings were the basic reason for the change.
This topic has been a point of debate since the original contract was signed August of 2000. The debate was always lively as to whether the management services provided by EMC were in the best interest of the city.
The story indicates that EMC and the Rushville City Council would be notified and that the board will advertise for the superintendents’ position. And now for the topper---current superintendent Les Day will be allowed to apply for the position.
In a vote of confidence for the current superintendent, the current employees wanted to make sure they had an opportunity to voice their support for the current superintendent Les Day.
In an ironic and probably unrelated matter, if you log onto cities into the city of Rushville’s website, you are greeted with the boxed directions titled, “Boil Water Advisory Instructions-Click here for instructions for Boil Water Advisories.” I hope that these are not telling signs of what is to come.
Questions to ponder:
1. How much do you want to bet that the revision of the date of termination corresponds to potential employees becoming contractually available?
2. Is there a non-compete clause?
3. Does this seem kind of cozy?
4. Does it ever look good to potential clients to be greeted with instructions for a Boil Water Advisory?
5. Will this be in the best interest of the city in the long run?
6. What are the fines for a violation at the water treatment facility?
7. Is it me or does this seems to be Buckled up like a Smith and Wesson oil? Sorry -- lost my train of thought!

1. No it was to avoid any legal action by ending the contract early.
2. According to Les, No.
3. Not if they get aps from others and they are considered.
4. No.
5. I hope so.
6. What fines? Haven't heard of any.
7. Huh?

Your wandering has me a bit baffled. The "boil water" thing has been there for quite a while- remember folks pitchin a fuss cause they weren't told about potential contamination of water supply? This was the response to that, and it never went away.
I'm curious- how does this appear cozy? and why would there be need for non-compete clause in this area?
Oh yeah, who is Les Day and why should you be concerned about him?

I am not positive, but I think the point of the boil water is the fact it is still up. The City did a poor job letting people know when we had the boil water order. Then, very belatedly and after many restaurants and nursing homes had to find out through the "Grapevine", the City finally posted it on their website and through the paper. Now we are 2 years later and the website has not been updated to reflect the boil water is over. People coming to the website, including visitors and potential residents see instructions on how to boil water. Is that what we want people interested in coming to Rushville to see? Go look at Greensburg or Shelbyville or Connersvilles websites and see what they have. Nice sites that provide a lot of info.
I would be ok if the City wanted to change a lot of stuff, but am a little nervouse with them taking over the water department management. This admin has not inspired me with their competence on a lot of issues. One screw up with the water company and we are in a lot of trouble. I hope they know what they are doing.

R. Denney,
Sounds like the posts you were describing were posted by someone who was banned for breaking blog rules. If they ban someone, then all their posts are automatically deleted. It happened a few months ago in the same way.
With what this site allows on here, such as direct attacks about this site and some of the posters, I am sure they did not delete a post that said they were running out of things to blog about. They have left much worse on here. Most likely the poster in question either used curse words, or directed personal attacks against a named individual. Two sure ways of getting banned. They usually give a warning the first time, so I am sure this person is a repeat offender.
Sorry, your conspiracy theory does not hold water.
