The 2007 Rushville City election for 2008-2012 term has been watched closely and some encouraging, interesting and disturbing things were observed:

• High voter absentee turn out
• High straight-party absentee voting (almost hypnotic)
• Hear-say dispensed from local watering holes that played a major part in the election
• Grandiose promises that were made while not revealing details
• Government-funded, non-political organizations that entered into the conflict of politics
• Campaign topics morphed throughout the election debates
• A primitive score keeping system about the local politicians was developed
• The local newspaper entered the political arena through: editor-backed articles, articles critical of incumbents, blogs, and story comments
• Perception that was believed above the “cold, hard facts”
• Strategy seems to have been to inundate the incumbent with accusations to defend

As a result, it was a good time to develop a site that is not slanted by bloggers or political supporters. It is not intended to discredit the Rushville Republican, but it will address topics and questions that the paper has not or will not address. A “tell it like it is” assessment of local events will be presented.

This site will probably be met with opposition by those individuals involved around the highlighted topics as well as the local “establishment.” It has become apparent that the local press is supplied with somewhat of a dummied-down version of the stories. So, the real results and motives of news stories are not ever revealed to the general public.

Sometimes the real story is buried behind all of the fluff, and this is what will be revealed.

Above all, this website will not be designed to become a substitute for any existing media source. It will become a source for further investigations of controversial topics. Sometimes, it will just supply questions that need to be asked by the general public or the media sources to make the story all-inclusive.

This site is committed to tracking the following events/topics:
• Elections
• City and county-elected officials and execution of their programs
• Performance of taxpayer-backed organizations
• School Programs
• Campaign Promises
• Topics of interest that may develop

This site will make the following basic commitments:

• It will never be used to damage the community spirit
• It will never fabricate stories
• It will not avoid a controversial topic
• Topics of interest will be bi-partisan
• Measurements of program successes or failures will be based solely on results
